Walking Rugby for Everyone in Torfaen

Our Story and Commitment to Inclusivity

We are Torfaen Swifts, we were founded in 2018 under the Dragons scheme and name but we rebranded ourselves in 2020 in honour of founding member Henry Swift who sadly passed away in 2019.

We are a local walking rugby club based in Cwmbran, South Wales who travel to tournaments/festivals across the country as well as hosting our own tournament at least once a year. We encourage people over 18 to come play rugby as playing sport has shown to improve mental health. Our biggest aim is to continue the club running as long as we can and to provide a place for people to play a sport that they enjoy, whether it’s their first time playing or if they are an ex-player looking to keep in the rugby community. Sport has a huge effect on mental health and we aim to allow people to use walking rugby as their source of exercise.
